The Club Nàutic Fornells in the Island Games 2011 - Isle of Wight

Four sailors from Club Nàutic Fornells will defend the colours of  Menorca in the XIV Island Games which takes place between 25 June and 1 July on the Isle of Wight (England).

Jonathan Dunnett, Sebastià Mercadal (edit: qualified, but unable to participate), Joan Perez and Marc Riera participate in windsurfing and are trying to repeat the success of the two previous editions of the Games where the sailors took all the medals in the category.

In this edition of the Games, the windsurfing discipline is slalom. The competition will start on Sunday 26th and end on Friday July the 1st.

The Island Games, contested by a group of Islands with fewer than 100,000 people, have been organized since 1985 and take place every two years.

The first edition of these games took place on the Isle of Man, and was attended by 15 islands with a total of  700 athletes. The last edition took place two years ago in Aland (Finland), with 25 islands and a total of 2,286 athletes. Menorca has participated since 2007.

Good luck to all!
